Winnipeg police have made an arrest in the shooting death of a man last spring.

Allan Crockford, 42, was gunned down in the 600 block of Maryland Street in April 2012.

Police said Crockford and another man were walking in the area around 12 a.m. on April 6, 2012.

A suspect confronted the two men, pulled out a rifle and fired it at the victim, said police. The suspect then robbed the two men and fled, said officers.

Crockford was rushed to hospital but died from injuries.

On Tuesday, Winnipeg police arrested a suspect. He was in custody for an unrelated crime at the time.

Derek John Hall, 26, is charged with second-degree murder for Crockford’s death, along with robbery with a firearm and a number of other gun-related offences.
