Winnipeg police and Child Find Manitoba marked National Missing Children's Day on Wednesday alongside organizations across the country.

Groups hope to raise attention about missing children in the province and across the country.

Among those that Winnipeg police and Child Find are seeking the public's assistance in finding are Dominic Maryk and Abby Maryk.

Their mother, Emily Cablek, last saw her two young children on Aug. 16, 2008, said police.

Dominic is now 10 years old, while his sister Abby is now eight years old.

Officers said the children were on a court-ordered visitation with their father Kevin Maryk, when he abducted them. Investigators said he may taken the children out of the province, or out of the country.

Police said Kevin Maryk may also be in the company of his nephew, Cody McKay, who is believed to be an accomplice in the abduction.

Officers released photos of the children but said their appearances could be very different now.

Police believe that friends, acquaintances or possibly other family members may have details on the location of the children. Officers ask anyone with information to come forward.

Officers also asked for the public's help locating Amber Guiboche, 20, who was last seen getting into a red truck in the area of Isabel Street and William Avenue on Nov. 10, 2010.

Police previously asked for the public's assistance in finding Laura Laquette, 16. On Thursday, officers said she had been safely located.

Anyone with information about the missing individuals is asked to contact the missing persons unit at 986-6250, or Child Find at 1-800-532-9135.
