Police have launched a public appeal to find a "person of interest" in the case of missing Winnipeg children Dominic and Abby Maryk.

On Friday, police released two sketches of a man whom detectives are trying to identify.

In a statement, police ask anyone with information regarding this person's identity or whereabouts to call the Winnipeg police Missing Persons Unit at (204) 986-6250.

Police did not say how he is connected to the case other than calling him a "person of interest."

Dominic, 8, and his six-year-old sister, Abby, were on a two week visit with their father, Kevin Maryk, 38, last August and never returned.

Police believe the pair were abducted by their father.

A Canada-wide warrant has been issued for the arrest of Kevin Maryk.

Police recently revealed the three may be with Kevin Maryk's nephew, Cody McKay.

Police have obtained an arrest warrant for McKay, 20. He is wanted for conspiracy to commit an indictable offence.

The children were recently featured on the website of America's Most Wanted, a popular American television show.
