Winnipeg police are investigating a fatal stabbing on Selkirk Avenue Friday evening that marks the city’s fifth homicide of 2015.
Around 10:50 p.m., emergency crews responded to the 700 block of Selkirk Avenue for a report of a stabbing.
Police said patrol members found 27-year-old Godfrey Virgil Hayden with serious injuries. They provided first aid to him until paramedics arrived. Hayden was pronounced dead a short time later.
Members of the homicide unit continue to investigate.
Police said interviews are still on-going and an autopsy is pending to confirm the cause of death.
