Brandon police are looking into a possible connection between two shootings in the city over the weekend that has left three men in custody.

Two men, aged 28 and 30, are in custody after 30 shots were fired at a home in the city Sunday afternoon.

Police were investigating a home invasion on Park Street where masked men armed with an assault rifle and a handgun broke into a home. While they were on the scene, they heard shots fired.

A total of 30 shots had been fired at a house on Lorne Avenue with two shots going through a window.

Police chased an escaping vehicle, stopped it and then arrested two men who had left the vehicle on foot. Officers found an assault rifle and a handgun near the vehicle with an ammunition magazine and a knife inside.

No one was hurt in either incident.

Police are also investigating another shooting incident in Brandon that has a 24-year-old man facing charges for attempted murder.

Police say a suspect was found hiding in a church. He apparently told staff he was hiding because he shot someone.

Officers arrested the man and found a 22-calibre handgun in a nearby dumpster.

Brandon police say they received a call about a fight and the sound of a gunshot.

A male victim was admitted to the Brandon Regional Health Centre around 6 p.m. Saturday.
