The homicide unit is investigating the death of a man whose body was found in Old St. Boniface on the weekend.
Officers said the victim was found shortly after 9 a.m. on June 2 in the rear of the 200 block of Rue Dumoulin.
Sources told CTV News the victim is a suspected gang associate.
Officers said they have had contact with the victim in the past, but didn't supply more information on Monday.
Police said the male victim had “sustained upper body injuries considered suspicious in nature.”
An autopsy has been scheduled to determine cause of death.

Police identified the victim as Kyle Devasconcelos, 23, of Winnipeg.
