Winnipeg police are looking for a suspect after a man was stabbed in the North End Thursday night.

Police went to King Street and Dufferin Avenue around 11:30 p.m. for reports of a fight in the area. When officers arrived they found a 37-year-old man had been stabbed in the upper body, police said.

The man was rushed to hospital in unstable condition.

Police said an initial investigation found the man was walking in the area when a stranger approached him and suddenly began assaulting him. The man then fled.

Officers are now looking for a man described as aboriginal in appearance, about 20 to 25 years of age with a slim build and long hair. The man was wearing dark clothing at the time of the assault.
