Winnipeg police are looking for two men after a shooting altercation in the downtown area Tuesday.

Police said two groups of men were arguing in the area of Isabel Street and Elgin Avenue.

The two groups confronted each other, and shots were reportedly fired.

A 21-year-old man was taken to hospital where he is in stable condition.

Police are searching for two men in connection with the incident. One is described as Aboriginal in appearance, in his early 20s, about five feet nine inches (175 cm) tall, with a skinny build and short black hair.

The other male suspect is described as Aboriginal in appearance, in his early 20s, about five feet ten inches (177 cm) tall, with a medium build and short, black hair.

Members of the major crime unit are investigating.
