Winnipeg police and RCMP are warning the public about the release of a convicted sex offender at high risk to re-offend.

Winston George Thomas, 35, is being released from Headingley Correctional Centre on Monday and is expected to settle in Winnipeg.

Thomas has several previous convictions, including two counts of sexual assault, two counts of assault, and aggravated assault, said police.

Despite Thomas’s participation in some sex offender treatment programs in prison, police are concerned he will re-offend and said women of all ages are at risk of sexual violence upon his release, said officers.

Police said any vigilante actions against Thomas will not be tolerated.

If you have information regarding Thomas, you can speak to a police officer directly by calling the Manitoba Integrated High Risk Sex Offender Unit at 984-1888.
