A city committee wants a closed-door meeting on the prospects of opening up Portage and Main to pedestrians.
City staff have agreed to meet with councillors from Downtown Development in 60 days to update how negotiations are going with property owners at the iconic intersection.
In 2019, the landlords can lock into new leases that would keep the barricades up at Portage and Main for another 40 years.
Mayor Brian Bowman campaigned on a pledge to open up the intersection to foot traffic.
