On Thursday evening, the general manager of Portage Place mall sent out an apology to Joseph Meconse.
“On behalf of Portage Place, we wanted to extend our most sincere apologies to Mr. Joe Meconse, a respected aboriginal elder and a decorated veteran who has proudly served our country,” said David Stone Portage Place’s GM.
The mall is also removing their 30-minute food court time limit.
“Given that our many members of our community use our food court as a place to meet friends, this is a policy we are now removing,” said Stone.
The mall will be reaching out to Mencose to apologize and invite him back to visit within their vicinity.
