Production has resumed at a southern Manitoba cheese plant after a Listeria contamination scare last month.

Bothwell Cheese shut down just days before Christmas. Five of its shredded cheese products were recalled due to the possible presence of Listeria.

The company and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency believe the source of the problem was a new piece of equipment, which has now been removed.

The entire factory has been sanitized and Bothwell is doing an in-house review in conjunction with a separate CFIA investigation.
