The city and province are set to put more funding into the Jonathan Toews Community Centre field house project.

Councillors are being asked to approve an additional $2 million of funding. It appears the Selinger government is doing the same.

The $17.9 million field house, named after the NHL captain from St. Vital, is also being cost-shared by the Dakota Community Centre.

The new facility will be a multi-use sports hall with three indoor fields and a running track.

Construction is set to begin this fall, with an opening in late 2016 or early 2017.
