One man is dead and another is in custody after a murder on Keeseekoowenin First Nation Friday night.

Around 10:30 p.m. officers were called to a home on the First Nation where they found 34-year-old Terrel Stewart Shorting dead, according to RCMP.

Now, 50-year-old Terris Ronald Mintuck has been charged with second-degree murder.

Mintuck is set to appear in Brandon Provincial Court on Jan. 7.

RCMP have scheduled an autopsy in Winnipeg and continue to investigate.

Keeseekoowenin First Nation is located about 275 kilometres northwest of Winnipeg.
