RCMP are asking the public to stay away from the Portage Diversion as water continues to rise. They said people have been stopping to take photos of the high water level, particularly along the Trans-Canada Highway just west of Portage la Prairie.
RCMP said the diversion is an emergency area, where crews are working with heavy equipment. It said people exiting their vehicles and taking photos in affected areas create problems for crews.
RCMP say there are reduced speed limits near the diversion, and ask drivers to slow down and drive cautiously.
