People in communities across Manitoba walked to raise money for rural families who have to travel to medical appointments with their children.

The Second Annual Red Shoe Crew Walk supports Ronald McDonald House Charities Manitoba (RMHCMB). The three-kilometre walks were held in Winnipeg, Brandon, Portage la Prairie, Dauphin and Waywayseecappo First Nation.

“This walk responds to the needs of our families from all over rural Manitoba who wish to aid our cause and offers a wonderful day of family fun,” said RMHCMB CEO Wendy Galagan in a news release.

Participants got a chance to win a trip for two anywhere WestJet flies for every $100 raised, and a pair of big shiny red shoes for every $1,000. The winners will be awarded at a ceremony in October or November, to be determined.
