The Manitoba Parks Reservation Service opened Monday for booking cabins, yurts, group use sites and Birds Hill Provincial Park.

The province said nearly 1,400 reservations were made for yurts and more than 3,000 reservations made for campsites at Birds Hill.

Reservations for all other provincial park begin April 7.

Bookings can be made by calling 1-888-482-2267 or online at: http://prs.gov.mb.ca

Users can also purchase annual provincial park entry passes online.

In anticipation of high demand, the phone service opened at 7 a.m. Monday but will return to the usual 9 a.m. start time for subsequent days.

Reservations can also be made in person at 200 Salteaux Crescent in Winnipeg between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
