Riders geared up for the seventh annual Motorcycle Ride for Dad on Saturday morning.

Over 1,250 registered riders took to the streets and raised more than $260,000 in the fight against prostate cancer.

In total, the seven years of fundraising brought over one million dollars in donations for prostate cancer research and education in Manitoba.

“It is very gratifying for our organizing committee to see the support Manitobans provide the Ride for Dad as well as our tremendous media partners who spread the word about the importance of early detection of prostate cancer,” said Ed Johner, a prostate cancer survivor, in a press release.

The ride started at Polo Park’s parking lot near Earls and continued down Portage Avenue to Assiniboia Downs, north to Selkirk, Gimli and back.
