Red River College in Winnipeg issued a statement Tuesday, the day after word spread about potential layoffs for dozens of food services workers.

On Monday, some workers told CTV News they were informed at a meeting that jobs could be contracted out in 2013.

Tuesday afternoon, RRC President Stephanie Forsyth issued a memorandum to the college’s community.

In the statement, Forsyth said, “there have been further conversations that lead us to believe that we may have other options to explore and, as a result, we will be meeting with the MGEU early next week.”

Forsyth said the college community would be informed of any new developments in days to come.
