School trustees in Manitoba to be penalized for loose lips, bad behaviour

Manitoba school trustees could soon be penalized for revealing confidential information and other bad behaviour.

The provincial government has tabled legislation that would require school boards to set codes of conduct for all trustees.

The codes would require trustees not to disclose confidential information and to respect the opinions of opponents.

Boards could add their own rules on top of that.

Trustees breaking the rules could be suspended for up to three months.
