Two Headingley teens have been charged after police said a firearm was found during a check stop in the Wolseley area.

It happened at around 2:30 a.m. on Sunday near Portage Avenue and Raglan Road.

Police flagged down a truck with two people inside. Officers said the driver was acting suspiciously, and they spotted a firearm in the car.

Police arrested the two people and seized a .22 calibre semi-automatic rifle, as well as different types of ammunition and three knives.

Two men, a 17-year-old and an 18-year-old, were charged with a number of firearm related offences.

They were released from police custody on a promise to appear in court.
