Sentencing has been postponed for a 17-year-old who pleaded guilty to committing a terrorism offence.

The teen was scheduled to be sentenced in Brandon Tuesday morning after pleading guilty in Winnipeg last month to a charge of counselling the commission of an indictable offence for the benefit of, at the direction of, or in association with a terrorist group.

The Public Prosecution Service of Canada said sentencing has been postponed pending a report.

The youth was 16 years old at the time of the offence and cannot be named due to provisions in Youth Criminal Justice Act.
