Winnipeg Transit is continuing to work out the kinks in the system that will allow riders to use smart cards.
A test in June using 100,000 smart card transactions on 340 buses showed areas of the system required debugging.
A second test is planned this month. The cards were already supposed to be in use but a city report now says they won’t be available until early next year.
“The decision to go ahead and implement the smart card system will not be made until the entire system successfully completes field testing.”
