Young girls in Winnipeg got a lesson from one of Canada’s best on Sunday.

Canadian women's national soccer team player Desiree Scott held a soccer camp for girls aged nine to 18. More than 120 girls signed up.

Scott held the camp at Garden City Community Centre.

“It’s just my way to give back to them,” said Scott. “They’ve been instrumental in my career, so just looking to give back and have fun with the kids.”

In conjunction with KidSport and Elite Winnipeg, the camp aims to bring professional drills, skills and training to young players to expose them to the rigours of what it's like being a pro.

Scott said she wanted to give more kids the tools that helped her stay in the game. In a week and a half, Scott said she would head back to Vancouver to train with the national team.
