Alyx Delaloye, the seven-year-old girl who captured the hearts of Winnipeg Jets fans when she appeared on the big screen last week at MTS Centre, got to meet players from the team following Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Kings.

Alyx is battling leukemia and her family drives in from Neepawa for weekly rounds of chemotherapy.

The family won tickets to attend a game against the Dallas Stars last week and the 15,000 fans in attendance at MTS Centre roared when Alyx was shown holding a sign that read ‘Chemo by day, Jets by night’.

Jets players also banged their sticks on the ice and against the boards to honour Alyx and after that game some members of the team spoke about her courage and said they wanted to invite the family back to another game.

That happened on Sunday, and after the Jets beat the Kings 5-2 Alyx and her family were invited to meet the team.

Alyx and her brother Hayden handed out t-shirts that read ‘Super Alyx’ across the front to all the players.

The shirts were designed by Alyx’s uncle when she was first diagnosed because he said the young girl is his hero.
