Police arrested and charged a man in connection with the theft of two valuable rings from a Main Street jewelry store, as well as robberies at two other locations.

On Nov. 15, Security cameras at Golden Hand Jewellery at 955 Main St. captured an image of a man reaching behind the counter and taking something from the case while the clerk had his back turned.

Staff at the store said two rings worth about $5,000 each went missing. At the time, the owners offered a $1,000 reward for the return of the rings.

In a similar incident on Oct. 31, an undisclosed amount of cash was taken from a cash register  at a hotel in the 700 block of Main Street while staff weren’t look.

On Nov. 17, two days after the jewelry store robbery, a pharmacy in the 700 block of Main Street was broken into twice. A window was smashed and a large quantity of medication was taken.

Police arrested and charged Kyle Kenneth Desmarais, 30, in connection with all three incidents.
