RCMP said a 36-year-old man is facing multiple charges after a marijuana grow-op with more than 80 plants was found on Manitoba Avenue in Winnipeg.

Police said he was out on bail at the time while facing a first-degree murder charge in another case.

Officers carried out the search and seized marijuana on Manitoba Avenue on Nov. 2 around 6 a.m.

The suspect was picked up earlier that day, around 5:30 a.m., in Winnipeg Beach. Five RCMP units assisted in the investigation.

Corey Scott Tymchyshyn, 36, faces multiple charges, including possession for the purpose of trafficking, uttering threats, assault and extortion, said RCMP.

He also faces a charge of first-degree murder for the death of Chad Davis more than four years ago.

Davis’s body was found in the Lee River near Lac du Bonnet in July 2008.
