The 15-year-old girl who was viciously beaten in a downtown parkade last week is fighting to stay alive.

She was in care of CFS at the time, as was the boy charged with her assault.

The girl’s family is with her and is praying for the best.

"It's every mother's worst nightmare that anyone could ever imagine," said the girl’s mother.

The mother of the girl found beaten just over two weeks ago worries she may never talk to her daughter again.

To protect the identity of her girl, we cannot identify either of them.

"She was a very good kid and somebody seriously hurt her," added the mother.

CTV News was told that her teen was been taken off life support on Wednesday.

The mom said the girl is not doing well and she said CFS is squarely to blame.

"It was by choice of asking for help. This is not the proper help that you would give a child, especially being in care," said the mother.

The province said it can't talk about the girl's case specifically, but did say they are monitoring the situation.

Cora Morgan advocates for families in the justice and CFS systems and said the province needs to be more responsible in caring for the kids in its care, and the girl in hospital deserved better.

"Her human rights were violated. She was put in terrible circumstances and she was expected to embrace that and yet it was completely dangerous," said Cora Morgan of the Onashowewin Justice Circle.

The province said once police complete their investigation, the office of the Children's Advocate and CFS will review the case.

The girl's mother, meanwhile, said she'll advise people not to ask for help from CFS for their children.

The province is vowing to keep kids out of hotels after June 1.

Thursday morning, it said there was one child placed in a hotel who has since been moved to another placement.
