The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service is issuing a temporary ban on issuing open-air burn permits.

With high winds, and low ground moisture in the city, the fire service is issuing the ban, to prevent the spread of accidental fire.

An open-air fire can be considered as; a bonfire, disposal of wood, burning of crop residues, or a warming fire.

The city said once environmental conditions improve, the ban will be lifted.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service is reminding the public that fires are not permitted once winds exceed 25 kilometres per hour.
