The City of Winnipeg is taking another look at its snow plowing policies.

Complaints have been piling up over the mounds of snow left for homeowners to dig out in back lanes.

The city's policy currently only includes removal of windrows in front drives, but now the Public Works Committee has been asked to explore whether there is a viable option to remove windrows in back lanes.

That's welcome news to Winnipeggers who are tired of shoveling and digging their way through huge windrows left behind in their back lanes, often catching them by surprise at the most inconvenient times.

Linda Goosen lives in River Heights. Windrows block her garage.

“What are people supposed to do when you’ve got three feet of frozen chunks of ice between you and your garage?”

The motion recommends the city's administration investigate the issue further and report back at a later date.
