The Salvation Army’s Toy Mountain has exceeded its goal, collecting a total of 19,000 toys throughout the 2016 holiday season. The total includes cash donations used to purchase toys.

In an email, Maj. Rob Kerr of The Salvation Army said by the end of this week, 13,000 children from more than 3,000 families will receive toys.

He also said the number of toys is higher than the number of kids, because less expensive toys are often bundled together and given as a single gift.

Kerr adds that the program is serving over 1,100 more children than it did last year.
