Thousands of children in Winnipeg will have something just for them under the tree this Christmas thanks to Salvation Army’s Toy Mountain.

The annual donation drive started in November with a goal of collecting 15,000 new unwrapped toys and exceeded that with a total of more than 16,300.

“It’s been tremendous support from people making donations, incredible gifts,” said Lt. Mark Young of The Salvation Army.

“Literally tears flowing from parents’ eyes just so appreciative of what they were able to receive this year.”

People were able to drop gifts off at fire halls, police stations, and Scotia Banks and the Winnipeg Jets held a toy drive one night at a home game.
