Food forgotten for football is being blamed for a Transcona house fire Thursday night.
Police said the resident was cooking food on the stove when he left it to join his neighbour to watch a football game. He then looked out the window to see his home on fire.
Fire crews shut down part of Harvard Avenue just after 9 p.m. to fight the fire.
Damage is estimated at more than $100,000. There were no injuries.
