Police are investigating after two people were killed in a head-on motor vehicle collision near Mark Lake.

Ontario police said the crash happened May 26. Police were notified that two vehicles on Highway 671 near Mark Lake collided.

Police said it was reported that a northbound minivan and southbound pickup truck collided head-on in the northbound lane.

Two people from the northbound vehicle died on scene.

They have been identified as 47-year-old Lisa Kabestra and 50-year-old Julius Taypaywaykejick of Grassy Narrows First Nation.

Two people from the southbound vehicle were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police say an investigation is ongoing, and charges are pending.
