Winnipeg police have two men in custody after a violent robbery in the West Alexander neighbourhood.

Around 11:30 p.m. paramedics found a 44-year-old man injured in the 900 block of Sherbrook Street.

Police said the man was confronted by two men and beaten. He was forced to the ground and robbed of cash, police said. The suspects then fled.

A short time later officers arrested two men in the area.

A 23-year-old man and a 22-year-man are now facing charges of robbery with violence. The 22 year old is also facing a charge of breach of probation.
