Winnipeg police said  two suspects face charges after a woman was dragged into a vehicle, then driven to two locations and sexually assaulted on Dec. 1.

A 27-year-old woman was walking to a store in the area of Burrows Avenue and Charles Street around 7 a.m. when she was approached by two unknown men in a vehicle.

Police said the suspects confronted the victim and forced her into the vehicle.

The suspects drove the victim to a suite in the city and a “serious sexual assault occurred,” said police.

The victim tried to flee but was unsuccessful.

One of the suspects drove the victim to Lorette, where a sexual assault occurred within the vehicle, said police.

The victim was able to flee and made her way to a nearby business, where police were called.

"It's hard to believe that anybody would do that to anybody but she's pregnant and that's what's really disturbing," said a Lisa Hrynchuk, who works at the Inn Seine, the business where the victim called police.

The first suspect, a 35-year-old man, was arrested at a suite on Jefferson Avenue on Dec. 2.

The second suspect was arrested on Dec. 3 in the 1400 block of Ross Avenue.

Michael Douglas Hardy, 35, faces charges for kidnapping and sexual assault, said police.

Darcy Trevor Stirling, 32, faces charges for kidnapping, sexual assault and theft over $5,000, said police.
