The Canada Summer Games are just around the corner.

On Friday, thousands of athletes from across the country will be in Winnipeg to compete in over 250 events.

They will be staying in the Athletes Village on the University of Manitoba campus.

"We think it's going to be a great village for the athletes, not only for the accommodations that are here at U of M, but for the other amenities,"  said Jeff Hnatiuk, President & CEO of the host committee.

Jeff Hnatiuk said athletes can expect entertainment, including access to university facilities. The games will also be providing condoms.

"That is one of the things that are provided," said Hnatiuk.

Hnatiuk says they're part of the games overall medical support planning.

Children as young as 11 have qualified to be a part these games here and will be staying in the village too.

"Our kids,  I think the youngest is 14 or 15," said Team Manitoba canoe/kayak coach Dave Anderson. "So myself and the other coach, are just going to keep an eye on the kids."

At the same time, Coach Anderson says he'll be reminding all the athletes to keep their eye on the real reason they're here: competing to the best of their ability.
