The Public Utilities Board has approved Centra Gas Manitoba’s application to increase utility gas rates.

The change will see the current primary gas rate go from $0.0819/m3 to $0.1055/m3. It is typically sold at cost by Centra to Manitoba customers. Centra Gas Manitoba is a division of Manitoba Hydro

Effective August 1, customers will see a $49 a year increase to their utility bill.

Primary Gas rates will be reviewed again Nov. 1, 2016.

Primary gas rates for customers that have signed fixed-term fixed-price contracts, with either Centra or a private broker, are not affected.

Additional information on the increase can be found on the PUB’s website.
