Thousands walked so kids could talk on Sunday. The national Walk So Kids Can Talk campaign organized walks in more than 25 communities across Canada to raise money for Kids Help Phone.

The Winnipeg event drew hundreds of walkers and raised nearly $50,000. CTV Winnipeg’s Colleen Bready co-hosted the event.

The event coincided with the start of Mental Health Week.

Organizers encouraged participants in this year’s walk to wear superhero costumes during the walk.

The money raised goes towards keeping the service available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

This year marks the 25th anniversary of Kids Help Phone.
