The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service needs more money because some patients aren’t paying their bills.

The WFPS said it requires an additional $415,000 to balance its books before the end of the year.

A report attributes the shortfall to bad debt, because the service is unable to collect money for some ambulance transports to hospitals and appointments.

The WFPS said it doesn’t expect the outstanding bills will be resolved.

It says it needs the additional revenue to continue current service levels across Winnipeg.
