David Powell with Winnipeg Realtors Association says February home sales are down because of the bitter winter.

He says normally realtors don’t blame the weather for a slump in sales, but this time they are. Early March real estate numbers are also trending down.

Realtor Tony Marino says cold weather and blizzards have hampered open houses and led to many rescheduled viewings, but he's still sold all his inventory. He had fewer listings than usual, he suspects because sellers doubt people want to buy in this weather.

Marino advises those looking to list homes do so soon. He expects many homes will begin popping on the market as soon as the snow melts, giving buyers plenty of options.
