For anyone who thought Winnipeg’s recent mild weather didn’t truly feel like winter, Saturday’s bone-chilling cold should change that.

The windchill will make it feel like -34 C, according to Environment Canada. The high forecast for Saturday is -22 C, well below the normal of -13 C.

Winds up to 20 km/h will make those temperatures feel even colder. The overnight low will reach down to -30 C.

The deep cold will linger for several days, with highs hovering in the low-minus 20s or high-minus teens until about the middle of the week. We might see some slight warming on Wednesday, but temperatures are expected to drop right back down after.
