Winnie the Pooh is well-loved by children all over the world but the character, named after Winnipeg, isn't getting much love in Tuszyn, Poland.

City councillors there are denouncing the honey-loving bear. The character's been banned from consideration of being a playground mascot. Lawmakers there said it's because Pooh is always half-naked. Many people on the streets of Winnipeg think the idea is absurd.

But apparently there was a long discussion about it and the Tuszyn councillors didn't sound as if they're just kidding around. But a lot of other people are in response to the move. Jokes have been flying across social media and it even caught the attention of Winnipeg’s new mayor.

Brian Bowman tweeted he hopes Winnie the Pooh continues to teach children about kindness and friendship for years to come.
