In celebration of Right to Know Week, the City of Winnipeg released government documents of public interest.

Right to Know Week is an international initiative to raise the awareness about the right to access government information, while promoting freedom of information.

Each year in September, 40 countries and 60 non-governmental organizations celebrate this week.

As part of its commitment to greater transparency and accountability, the city publishes records of interest to the public both proactively and in response to requests submitted under The Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.

The released the following documents prior to 2016:
2015 City of Winnipeg Operating Grant Transit - Audit Report
FIPPA Requests Received (Monthly Summaries)
Outdoor Pools and Wading Pools Attendance by Ward (2014-2015)
Designated Construction Zone Work Orders (January-August 2016)
Winnipeg Transit Environment Act Licence

In 2016, the city publicized these documents:

City Auditor Employment Contract
Capital Expenditures Monthly Report
Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO) Annual Results

Earlier in 2016, several opportunities were identified across city departments to improve data sharing using the City’s Open Data Portal.
