Police have charged a 24-year-old Winnipeg man in connection with a hit-and-run collision that killed a cyclist.

The crash happened in the 900 block of Nairn Avenue near Chester Street around 1 a.m. Tuesday morning.

Police said two men were cycling eastbound in the curb lane when one of them was struck by a car.

The 38-year-old who was hit was transported to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Kyle Nicholas Genereux is charged with driving while ability impaired causing death, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death, and fail to stop at a scene of an accident involving death.

He was remanded into custody.
