One Winnipegger is raising funds by running miles. Ed Toews plans to run 20 marathons in 15 months, while collecting money for Siloam Mission.
Toews began running marathons three years ago and got hooked.
He started plans for this fundraiser over a year ago, searching for marathons around the world to help complete his goal.
Toews journey begins on Wednesday, March 25thwhen he leaves for Europe. While on vacation there, he’ll run two marathons.
He’s also planning to run in races across Canada and the United States.
"Crazy… A lot of different words have been used to describe what I'm doing. And you know what that's part of the reaction that I wanted too, because if I'm going to do something simple and easy then why would people be interested in supporting me," said Toews.
Toews said he chose to donate the money he raises to Siloam Mission because it provides service and dignity to those in need.
He’s funding the trip out of pocket. All money he raises will go directly to Siloam Mission.
