Two men are possibly facing charges for a sexual assault, which ended in a police pursuit in early Friday morning.

Winnipeg police said they received reports of an alleged sexual assault at a hotel in the area of Wellington Avenue around midnight.

“We were called with respect to a female involved, don’t have an age for you at this point,” Const. Jason Michalyshen said.

According to WPS, a police pursuit followed, which ended up in a crash on Notre Dame Avenue and Weston Street.

Michalyshen said no injuries were reported, but there is property damage associated with the suspects’ vehicle and one police cruiser.

Police have six people in custody that they are interviewing as part of their investigation.

“We have two individuals potentially facing charges, these are males,” Michalyshen said.

He explained the charges involve, at this point, sexual assault, assault and the police pursuit.

Members of the WPS Sex Crimes Unit are involved in the investigation.
