Winnipeg police have recovered a Taser that was stolen while officers were dealing with a fight involving a large group of people. A suspect has been arrested and charges are pending.

Around 2:25 a.m. on Sept. 3, patrol officers spotted the group fighting in the area of Rorie Street and Bannatyne Avenue. They found an injured man and when they tried to administer first aid, people in the crowd started to assault the officers, police said.

That’s when one of the officers fired their Taser. In the ensuing melee, the Taser was dropped and the officers turned their attention back to the injured man.

The Taser was lost sometime after that.

Information recently obtained by the police service led officers to recover the Taser early Saturday afternoon.

No other information is available at this point.
