Police in Winnipeg say a warrant has been issued for a man following a vicious hotel assault in which an employee's ears were bitten off on June 19.

Around 2:20 a.m., a man and woman entered a hotel in the 500 block of Main Street and confronted a staff member after they were refused service.

The 40-year-old victim was “viciously assaulted by the pair over several minutes causing serious injuries,” police said in a news release.

Const. Jason Michalyshen confirms that during the attack, which lasted several minutes, the employee's ears were bitten off.

Police identified one suspect as Donald “Rocky” Loupelle, 44. He’s described as 5 feet 7 inches (170 centimetres) tall, 143 pounds (64.8 kilograms), with a medium build dark wavy hair and brown eyes.

Police are also looking for a woman in her 20s who they say also took part in the assault. She’s described as aboriginal in appearance, 5 feet 9 inches (175 cm) tall, 172 pounds (78 kg), with a medium build, dark hair and brown eyes.
