Beginning Tuesday, Dec. 23, the James Armstrong Richardson International Airport expects to see an increase in traffic volume. It estimates up to 10,000 people will come through daily.

To help make travelling less stressful, Winnipeg's airport has a coat & boot check-In. For people travelling somewhere warm, they can check their winter clothes for $2 a day per item and have them back when they return to Winnipeg.

Taking gifts on flights is also very common during the holidays but going through the security check with a wrapped present can be difficult. The airport suggests to bring gifts unwrapped and, once through security, travellers can wrap them at the airport wrapping station. The station is free to use with a donation to the Hunger for Hope campaign.

Historically, the busiest day of travel at the airport is Dec. 23 and passengers are advised to arrive at the airport two to two-and-a-half hours before their flight and to regularly check for flight delays.
